The Central Port is designated for cruiseships. It has about 3,800 metres of quay stretching between the Themistokleous and Krakari breakwaters. The Central (passenger) Port is the largest passenger port in Europe and one of the largest in the world, handling 30 million passengers a year. The Central Port is also the main passenger hub for services linking the mainland with the Aegean islands and Crete.
